High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire Double Celebration

September 11, 2025

On Friday 8th August, at the Nottinghamshire Scouts Charity Shop in Sherwood, two of our incredible volunteers — Jayne Asplin and John Asplin — were taken completely by surprise when Ed Attenborough, High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, presented them both with the prestigious High Sheriff Awards. Every year, the High Sheriff recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities — and this year, Jayne and John’s decades of dedication to Scouting and the local community shone brightly.

Jayne Asplin has devoted over 23 years to Scouting in Nottinghamshire — from her key role as County Administrator to leading the Nottingham Scout & Guide Gang Show, ensuring hundreds of young people have the chance to perform and grow in confidence. Jayne is known for her kindness, commitment, and willingness to do whatever it takes — whether organising major events, mentoring leaders, or even hand-sewing costumes!

John Asplin has given over 30 years of remarkable service — from leading the Nottinghamshire Gang Show to helping shape national Scouting events like the Centenary World Scout Jamboree. His tireless work in fundraising, running the Scout Charity Shop, and inspiring young people has left a lasting legacy.

Please join us in congratulating Jayne and John on this well-deserved recognition. On behalf of Scouting in Nottinghamshire thanks to you both!
