Chief Volunteer celebrates Nottinghamshire's Growth

June 27, 2025

The Chief Volunteer of England, Elizabeth Henderson has thanked volunteers in Nottinghamshire for their commitment to helping their groups flourish.

Nottinghamshire saw a 2.2% growth in membership in the 2025 census, which was more than 7 times the national average.

Liz said "It takes hard work, planning and commitment to grow our membership, but that's exactly what you've shown. Today, more young people are gaining skills for life, building their confidence, self-esteem and new friendships. And that's all thanks to you and your teams".

She went on to say "Your inspirational leadership has helped this happen. Whether you've helped your groups turn over a new leaf this year, or are branching out from existing success, you have my thanks and admiration".

Nottinghamshire's growth is as a result of the hard work from all our volunteers, right across the county. We have exciting programmes and life changing experiences being delivered week-in, week-out, and our young people can't get enough! With 1,500 young people on waiting lists across the county, our next challenge is how we can continue to offer Scouting to even more young people.

Take a moment to be proud of the part you play in delivering skills for life to thousands of young people across Nottinghamshire, and let's continue our laser-like focus on delivering great programmes and amazing experiences.
