CONGRATULATIONS AND THANK YOU!!

Recognising the contribution of adult volunteers and saying thank you is an important part of Scouting. In Nottinghamshire we thank our volunteers in a variety of ways, whether it be an informal ‘thank you’ after events, cards and flowers, letters, Commissioner’s Commendations and use of national Scouting Awards.

Awards for gallantry and the highest volunteer awards (the Silver Acorn, Bar to the Silver Acorn and the Silver Wolf) are celebrated on an annual basis to coincide with St George’s celebrations.

It gives me great pleasure to confirm and congratulate our 2018 recipients; all receiving the association’s second and third highest awards, the Silver Acorn and Bar to the Silver Acorn, are as follows:

Kathryn Wills for services to Scouting in Nottinghamshire and specifically Rushcliffe. Michael Taylor for services to Scouting in Bassetlaw and specifically Adult Training.  Steve Day for services to Scouting in Nottinghamshire and specifically Adventurous Activity Provision. Val Spyve for services to Scouting in Newark and specifically Adult Training and International

Jane Peberday for services to Scouting in South West Notts and specifically Cub Scouting. Richard Pratt for service to Scouting in South West Notts and specifically Scout/Explorer Scout Links. Derek Preston for services to Scouting in Newark and specifically Balderton.

Suggesting adult volunteers for awards is easy and can be done using the ‘Saying Thank You’ link on our website. The full 2018 National Scouting Awards Gazette can be found here.
